Nails of the week- El Salonisto Inspired

Easy as this week, although I don't take credit for the design which comes from http://elsalonsito.com/. On this site there is also a fantastic photo tutorial although this is extremely simple and doesn't require any skill or special tools!! I mixed mine up a bit by adding the half moons at the top but they could be left out if desired.

Nails of last week-Catching up!!

I was so busy last week I had no time to post so here are the nails was wearing from Monday 12th onwards.
The first ones were a kind of patterned variety type thing, seen here,

I really like these ones, although they do take a long time but the effect is nice, Variety is the spice of life!!

Difficulty: 7/10
These next ones were a little experiment of mine, my own version of Jennifer Mather's cover look for Nails Magazine. Obvioulsy mine are not acrylic nails nor did I use shellac but I managed to achieve the same effect or a good one anyway but with different coulours! I really like these will deffo do again, they looked like jewels!!!

Pink Friday- Twit twoo

Browsing on-line today, I saw this really cute t-shits from New Look which I totes would have bought if they'd had my size... what a let down! but it inspired me to do these cute pink owl nails, which again have become something of a trend on the on-line nail art community. So this is my take, I kept it simple although I really like them and so I will probs do these again at some other time with different colours, maybe like night time blues because... well owls are nocturnal!
These were basically a pink background with a dark grey used for the lines etc. although I did paint the index finger a shimmery pink and some of the hearts have glitter on them.

Nails of the Week- Unicorns Cheer Me Up

Got the January/Monday blues today, so what better to cheer me up than UNICORNS and GLITTER!!!!!
This however, requires the special skills of a unicorn lover and the fairies watching over me as I paint with a tiny brush a unicorn which looks like a weird dog with a baby arm. Yes these didn't go very well, hence I only kept them on for one day but it is the thought that counts...!

Pink Friday- Besame

I really need to change the title of this because I always do more than one set of nails per week. But nevertheless these are the nails I did today as I was feeling low at the end of the week so I did these pink, girly nails. they took a freaking age though because I kept smudging them but I really like them anyways. There are really two designs here the stars and the lips, I like them both separately or on their own but I decided to combine them today because... variety is the spice of life. I don't really think there needs to be a step by step guide here, it pretty much was just drawing on the patterns.
Also, appologies for the state of my cuticles, it is very cold here and the heating is hot in my flat so it dries my skin out, especially on my hands.

Doing Bianca's nails

I have to be honest guys despite the four posts in the same day these were done over the week but I didn't have time to post 'til today, so.... Here are Bianca's nails. These are so pretty and suit Bianca to a T. They remind me of Spring and also Daisy by Marc Jacobs perfume. They were also super easy!!! Just paint on the base colour and then added the white and pink flowers with a gold dot in the centre, the accent ring finger was just painted with a pale pink and then I pressed a craft glitter into it when wet. I didn't even use any tools, just the brush which comes with the nail polish.

Unicorns and Glitter!!!!

Just a peek at my piggies this time, I' have painted them glittery for the festive season! Now I love glitter EVERYWHERE, when I go out I am always covered in glitter, on my eyes, on my body, my hair everything, but I hate glitter nail polish because it is a nightmare to remove and you end up making a big mess. However, on my toes I don't mind because I don't change that polish as often as I do my fingers, only after it is a complete wreck, especially in the winter. I created this look with inspiration from the glittery wrapping paper in the background of the pic (I got this from John Lewis and I am going to put it up in my kitchen at uni) and I used  Models Own in Champagne nail polish as the main colour, and then whilst wet I pressed into it a silver cosmetic glitter, I didn't use a glitter top coat because I find that with my toes if they are really thick with nail polish they chip more easily. Finished with two coats of top coat and you're done.
ADDED TOUCH: I added the Unicorn as an afterthought because I luuuurrrrrve unicorns, this was painted on with a very fine artist brush and black nail polish. But you can add to this whatever you like, the silhouette works really well against the glitter. You should do this after the topcoat, although add another topcoat to finish as well.

Nails of the Week- Glitter Attack

This week I have been getting into the festive season with glittery sliver and black nails. Okay they don't exactly look Christmassy but there is glitter and I just really love the way it looks like glitter is dripping from my nails as if I just tore into a Unicorn with my bare hands. I cannot take credit for this design though, I saw it on the Illamasqua website as part of their Christmas Gifts section. The Illamasqua colours were Harsh and Boosh Festive Nail Duo but I knew that I had similar colours and I re-created the look with Barry M NP47(Black), although any black will do, Models Own in Champagne as the silvery colour (this colour looks gold in the bottle but comes out more silver) and then I just pressed a silver glitter top coat into it (there are tonnes of these around especially this season) and then two coats of top coat.
This is the Illamasqua Version, it looks great with really round almost pointed nails.

This is my version of the look, as you can see my nails are really short at the moment so the roundness is kinda lost on my nails but the two layers actually make nails look longer.
VARIATION:I have tried this with various colours, my fave was when I did red glitter with black and my 60+ Spanish lecturer, Luis was proper impressed with them! But that looked a bit gory though, go wild use any combinations you like, go subtle with the same shades in matte and glitter, or wild with clashing colours!
